Our client, a global market leader in the production and process support of active pharmaceutical ingredients, both in the chemical and biotechnology sectors, is looking for a:

Automation Category Specialist

for a contract role of 12 months, based in the Valais area, Switzerland.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Establishing and deploying overall Category Strategy as per business needs.
  • Managing demand, supply and capacity with key suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Managing supplier relationships with strategic partners.
  • Scanning market and internal stakeholder for identifying, analyzing and mitigating risks.
  • Delivering regular reports on market intelligence for lead time, prices, and M&As.
  • Developing purchasing execution strategies for the category and projects.
  • Defining and implementing procurement strategies as well as targets and department and suppliers.
  • Developing action plans, relationship management with suppliers, evaluation of new suppliers and management of strategic key account (supplier) activities.
  • Assisting in the development and execution of category strategies to ensure the timely acquisition of goods and services in alignment with the company’s business objectives.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant working/residency permit or Swiss/EU-Citizenship required.
  • Technical or Commercial training, ideally in process engineering, chemical engineering, business management, project management, supply chain, electrical or computer engineering.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in procurement, buying, or supply chain management.
  • Experience within the pharmaceutical or biotech sector is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with procurement automation tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and generate actionable insights.
  • Experience with procurement software and automation tools is a plus (e.g., SAP, Ariba, Oracle).
