A leader in the field of both in vitro diagnostics and manufacturing and selling of several innovative drugs.

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic Senior Research Associate (In vitro) in Non Malignant Hematology for a 18-month contract (with possibility of extension) based in Basel, Switzerland.

Together with a larger team you will be part of a highly collaborative, international group of research associates and scientists that are developing medicines for the future. You will work primarily with cell-culture based in vitro models to characterize/validate different therapeutic strategies in anaemia disorders. The perfect candidate has extensive experience in cell culture and in vitro molecular assays. Additionally, the person has experience in flow cytometry and relevant industrial work experience.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work with cell lines, primary cells and tissues including patient-derived material.
  • Evaluate the efficacy and safety of novel therapeutic targets or compounds through genetic manipulation assays, ex vivo differentiation cultures, and various molecular assays (e.g., multi colour flow cytometry, qPCR, western blotting).
  • Occasional work with transgenic mouse models to support different projects (tissue collection and processing).
  • Collaboratively design, execute, and interpret data from different studies and contribute to assay optimization.
  • Contribute to data analysis, maintain detailed documentation, and effectively communicate findings to the research team.
  • Work closely with all members of the group, share duties, maintain a clean work environment and actively contribute to the positive work atmosphere within the group.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant working/residency permit or Swiss/EU-Citizenship required
  • MSc/BSc in Life Sciences (cellular/ molecular biology, pharmacology, immunology, hematology), or completion of an apprenticeship for a research associate (“Lehrabschluss”) with ≥3 years of academic or industry experience.
  • Extensive industrial work experience in cell culture and in vitro molecular assays and prior experience in flow cytometry are mandatory.
  • Authorization to conduct animal experimentation (e.g., active LTK1, FELASA, or equivalent) and prior experience working with rodents would be an advantage.
  • Technical and theoretical expertise in immunology/haematopoiesis is nice to have.
  • Excellent data management and record-keeping skills combined with strong “can-do” attitude.
  • Fluent communication in English.
